Carnegie Ave Rehabilitation: Now Through November 2026

Location: Carnegie Ave between E 79th and MLK Jr

Alert in effect: Tuesday, August 5 - Tuesday, December 1, 2026

Project Overview

The City of Cleveland is completing the Carnegie Avenue Rehabilitation Phase 2 project from East 79th Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The project is now underway and is expected to completed in November 2026.

Traffic Impacts

The City will maintain one lane of westbound traffic and one lane of eastbound traffic on Carnegie Avenue while it reconstructs the southern half of Carnegie Avenue.

  • There may be an occasional eastbound detour between E 89th and E 90th during certain construction activities at the Cleveland Clinic's new NIH building. Westbound traffic will remain open during these periods.

Once the City completes the southern half of Carnegie Avenue, construction will move to the northern half of the street and vehicle traffic will move to the southern half. The overall traffic pattern will remain the same.
